Letter to Parents 25.02.2025
Tuesday 25th February 2025
Dear parent/carer,
Welcome back from half term, and I hope that you had a good half term break.
Uniform
This is a reminder about the importance of students attending school in full uniform. Wearing the correct uniform fosters a sense of pride and belonging and reflects unity of our school community.
New ties are now available and can be purchased from school for £5. Any students wishing to wear a longer skirt for faith-based reasons are permitted to do so, provided the skirt is black.
Our focus moving forward will be nails and hair colour. A reminder that as per the schools uniform policy, nails must be nail length and natural colour. French tip are acceptable but no other designs or gems are allowed. Hair must also be a natural colour. Moving forward, pupils arriving with nails or hair colour not of natural colour, parents will be contacted to correct that day and the pupil placed on isolation until resolved.
In addition, pupils choosing to wear a skirt are only permitted to be accompanied by ankle socks or black tights. Knee high socks will no longer be allowed when wearing a skirt.
Year 11 progress afternoon – Friday 7th March
On Friday 7th March, NUSA will be hosting a Year 11 progress afternoon. The event will run from 12:45-15:15 and is intended to offer specific support and direction to students in the final weeks leading up to their final examinations. More information will follow shortly.
This means that school will close for Year 7-10 at 12:30pm.
Detentions/Lates process
I wrote to you a few weeks ago in regard to the new Behaviour/Detention System which is now fully in effect. Please see the process below:
C1 – Negative added to kickboard
C2 – removal from lesson to another lesson (Matrix) and a 30-minute detention issued on the same day
C3 – removal from lesson to ICE and a 60-minute detention issued on the same day
Non-attendance to a C2 or C3 detention will result in a 2-hour Headteacher detention on a Friday afterschool.
Lateness to school changes - EVERY MINUTE MATTERS
Students need to be in the building for 08:40am.
If your child is not inside the building by 08:40am they will owe a 15-minute detention afterschool on the same day.
A second occasion of lateness in the same week, will result in a 30-minute same ay detention AND a Friday 60 Minute Heads Detention.
If your child is late 3+ times during the same week, this would result in a daily 30-minute detention AND a Friday 60 Minute Heads Detention.
Ms L Miller
Acting Headteacher
