Weekly Letter 28/06/2024
Week Commencing 24th June 2024
It’s been another busy week at NUSA!
We’re keenly preparing for the new academic year; I’ll update you in the next couple of weeks with a plan around any changes we are making.
The biggest piece of information for this week is to draw your attention to the attached information regarding holiday clubs – these don’t involve any NUSA staff but are organised and funded separately, but they can be accessed by students from our school.
In addition, please may I remind you that we return to full school uniform from next week as the weather cools down again (including the NUSA branded skirt for students who are wearing a skirt as their clothing).
Have a great weekend when we get there.
Thanks!!!Mr. Turton
Headteacher

Dear Parent/Carer
PARENT LOCAL GOVERNING COMMITTEE MEMBER ELECTION
I am writing to you to invite you to stand for election as a parent local governing committee member, or nominate another parent to do so. In our school we have provision for parent local governing committee member and there is currently a vacancy.
The local governing body, with the Head of School/Headteacher, has overall responsibility for the running of the school. The board of governors have three core functions:
Strategic leadership of the academy within the defined trust vision for high quality and inclusive education in line with the trust’s charitable objects
Accountability and assurance: the local board has robust effective oversight of the operations and performance of the academy, including:
The provision of education o Pupil welfare
Overseeing and ensuring appropriate use of funding
Keeping the estate safe and well-maintained
Engagement: the local board has strategic oversight of relationships with stakeholders
The local board involves parents, schools and communities so that decision-making is supported by meaningful engagement
The local governing committee is delegated certain functions by the Nova Education Trust Board of Directors and these responsibilities are outlined in the trust Governance Scheme of Delegation & Structure available for download at: http://www.novaeducationtrust.net/documents.php.
No special qualifications are needed and the most important thing is to have a keen interest in the school and be prepared to play an active part in the local governing committee’s work. Training is available for all local governors.
The enclosed sheet summarises the circumstances under which someone cannot serve as a local governor. Nominations must be from parents, or individuals exercising parental responsibility, of a child at the academy/one of the academies in the trust.
If you would like to stand for election please complete the online nomination form no later than Friday 12th July 2024. You may also include a short personal statement to support your nomination, which should be no longer than 250 words. Self-nominations will be accepted but if you are nominating another parent, please seek their prior consent.
If there are more nominations than vacancies the election will be by secret ballot. If that is necessary, voting papers will be sent to all parents together with details of the ballot procedure.
Yours faithfully,
Michael Sanderson
Chair of Governors
