Weekly Letter 15/03/2024
W/C 11TH March
This Week at NUSA
There are just under two weeks left of this term and we’re already planning in earnest for next term!
We are really excited at #AmazingNUSA to follow research about children and education. As a commitment to providing the best opportunities for your child, we have now taken the decision to remove 'time out' of lessons for children, as the research and the children themselves agree, the 'time out' does not help them to regulate themselves. The SEND and Reading Team will be trialling a variety of techniques to ensure each child's individual needs are met, something which we know you will support us with. If you have any questions, please do contact your child's Head of Year. In addition, there are updates to toilet passes in school; students will still be permitted to go to the toilet in lessons but they will be escorted by a member of staff if they need to go – this allows us to know where the students are at all times.
This is the final push with Year 11 and Sixth Form in the preparation for their exams this summer. Students are actively asking for targeted intervention, and attending brilliantly for this, so thank you so very much for your support in encouraging your children to attend these invaluable sessions.
Finally, this week students have received a letter to confirm parent/carer contact emails. If the information is correct no action needs to be taken but if it needs updating please complete the online form (details on the letter they have received) or return the slip with the updated details by Thursday 21st March. This will allow us to send electronic reports to you in the future.

We offer a number of ‘SEND drop ins’ throughout the year for parents/cares. Live Parent Webinar: How You Can Support Your Child During Exams
REGISTER HERE: https://go.elevateeducation.com/ukschoolwebinar
Tuesday 19th March 6:00-7:00pm
The countdown to exams is on and the finish line is in sight for students and their parents.
To help make the exam season as stress-free as possible, we’ll be showing parents how they can optimise their child’s exam room performance by establishing a good routine in the days before an assessment.
Parents who attended our last webinar on exam preparation loved the straightforward approach of the session:
‘To the point, packed with helpful tips. It's not rocket-science, which means it's very practical, applicable advice.’
‘The delivery was very clear and concise. The presentation was so impressive with the different techniques and clear examples. I will be signing up for more of these courses!’
We hope to see you there!
Have a lovely weekend,
Mr. Turton
