Dear Parent/Carer,
We have been really saddened by the news in Nottingham this week. The police have sent us a statement that they would like us to share with parents and carers.
‘After the awful events in Nottingham City Centre yesterday, there may be some pupils, especially from the BME community that are feeling nervous and anxious about repercussions to them and their families as speculation around the suspect circulates on social media
It is important to stress to pupils and staff that this was an act of a lone person and at this time, there are no indicators that this was an attack that was committed due to ethnicity, immigration status, religion or ideology.
Please also reinforce to students that there is a lot of speculation on social media and the news regarding the suspect and this information is often false to generate a backlash’
Our School and Early Intervention Officer (SEIO) is available if any pupils, particularly from the BME community, wish to speak to them about the matter, he will be able to offer support and to identify and report back for the community impact assessment any issues and concerns, they have.
Year 11 – Leavers update
On Tuesday 20th June we will be holding our Year 11 Celebration Event. All Year 11s are expected to attend, as this is their final opportunity to say goodbyes to all staff and pupils. It is also the time for shirt signing, leaving one another with a final keepsake. Year 11s and Year 11 team have requested that all come in school uniform on the day but will need to bring a shirt and pen with them.
The event will begin at 1pm, so all pupils should be in school for this time. Below is an outline of the timings for the event:
12:30-1pm - Arrival
1pm - Line up to be seated in Lecture Theatre
1pm-1.20pm - Speeches and Tutor awards
1.20-2.20pm - 'The Last Dance' a video of our 5 years together
2.20-2.55pm - Afternoon tea in the canteen, shirt signing and photo backdrop
In addition to this, we would welcome any donations of uniform. If you have any ties or blazers or PE kit that you are happy to part with, then please leave them at reception on the day.
