Work Experience Letter to Year 12 Parents
Work Experience and Reading Week for Year 12 Students
Dear Parent/Guardian,
We are pleased to confirm that our Year 12 students will be given the opportunity to complete a week of Work Experience between Monday 10th July and Friday 15th July 2023.
What are the Benefits of Work Experience?
Work Experience is a key element of preparing our young people for the world of work. The process of organizing a placement, working with adults and challenging themselves in a new environment all help to develop key characteristics in our young people. Work Experience also raises student aspirations, increases their motivation to succeed at Sixth Form and enhances their applications for University or employment. For many of our students, work experience is a compulsory element of their course and securing an appropriate placement will be necessary for them to pass.
What Does My Child Have to Do?
Students have been strongly encouraged to secure placements as soon as possible. Any student who has connections or links with a possible placement should complete a ‘Self-Placement Form’ and return it to Miss Strawson.
What Happens to the Forms?
NUSA will contact all placements to ensure that the details are correct and to make sure all the correct paperwork is in place.
If you have any questions relating to work experience please don’t hesitate to contact myself or Mr. Bradford via the main NUSA contact number on 0115 9291492.
The following week will be a Year 12 Reading Week, where students will study from home completing the necessary reading and related tasks in readiness for Year 13. Students will not be expected to attend Sixth Form from Monday 17th July 2023.
Yours Sincerely,
Miss Strawson
Head of NUSA Sixth Form
