Dear Parents/Carers,
At NUSA this week:
Another great week for us at NUSA this week. This week we have commemorated Holocaust Memorial Week. Mr Townsend held assemblies for all year groups about the week and discussed how, as a Holocaust Beacon school, we will continue to help support schools across the country to improve their provision of Holocaust Education.
Our Year 11 Parents evening was really well attended and it was great to see so many parents and carers being so supportive of their children and wanting to know how they could help support at home. We work with a company called ‘Elevate’ who support students with revision. They are hosting webinars to help support parents and students.
Upcoming webinar for parents – How to Help Improve Your Child's Memory
We’re excited to announce that Elevate Education will be hosting a free webinar for our parents on Tuesday 7th February. Elevate Education works with our students, delivering high impact workshops on study skills, motivation, wellbeing, and exam preparation. By tuning into their webinar series you will learn how you can help better support your children at home through reinforcing the skills they learn at school:?? Tuesday 7th February @ 6:00pm?(GMT)

Industrial Action: I wrote to you earlier in the week with the promise of plans for Wednesday 1st February being sent out today. Please find below the plans for the day.
Please note, these plans are for this day only and plans regarding future strike days will be sent out closer to the time.
Students who will be expected in school on Wednesday 1st February 2023 – Year 7/Year 11/Year13
Students who will not be in school on Wednesday 1st February 2023 – Year 8/Year 9/Year 10/Year 12
This is not a decision I have taken lightly, but due to the number of staff proposed to be absent on the day, I have to ensure that we have enough staff in school to keep the children safe.
If further strike days do occur, the Year groups will change each time so that the same students are not impacted every time. If you child is in Year 7/Year 11/Year13 and receives a free school meal or buys school dinners, they will still be able to get food from the canteen on Wednesday 1st February. If your child is in Year 8/Year 9/Year 10/Year 12 and receives a free school meal, we will be putting provision in place for them to take food home on Tuesday 31st January for the next day.
All students should return to school as normal on Thursday 2nd February 2023.
Have a lovely weekend, Emma Howard
