Moving up Letter - Year 12 - 13
Moving up letter – Year 12 to Year 13
Dear Parent/Carer,
We have been really proud of the way in which Year 12 have settled in to their studies here at NUSA16. We are going to continue to raise our expectations in the new academic year and as such, wanted to write to you to outline what the students can expect in Year 13.
We appreciate that the student’s first year at NUSA16 has seen a lot of changes and acknowledge the resilience that many of them have demonstrated during this time. NUSA16 will continue to grow in the new academic year and we are excited for the journey ahead.
Dress Code
As a Sixth Form student, although you will no longer wear a uniform, you are expected to dress in smart sensible clothing in the sixth form as you are a role model to our younger students within the academy and taking pride in our appearance is important as we all represent the academy community.
In extreme cases a student will be asked to return home and change before returning to the sixth form and a parent/carer will be informed. In the event of being sent home the student will be expected to complete any missed learning at the end of the same day.
Equipment
All students must have the following equipment, if you need specific equipment for a subject your class teacher will inform you.
Black and blue pens and a pencil
A ring binder folder
A4 notebook
A ruler and eraser
Highlighters
A diary/planner
A bag to carry your equipment (please ensure your bag is large enough to carry books and folders etc)
You are welcome to bring your own laptop from home, however our insurance will not cover any damage, loss or theft of any personal possessions including phones. It is your responsibility.
Mobile Phones
Students should not be on mobile phones when moving around the school building or during lessons. Mobile phones can be used in the Sixth Form Common Room or in the Study Room.
Attendance
If you are aware in advance that you will be absent for any reason you need to have absence authorised by the Head of Sixth Form prior to ensure your absence is agreed and recorded. Evidence will be needed for all appointments.
Authorised absences include medical appointments and interviews. We encourage you to book university visits at the weekends where possible.
Routine medical appointments, driving lessons and work commitments are not to be made during the college day and will not be authorised. Unsatisfactory levels of attendance of attendance may result in the withdrawal of a students’ place in Sixth Form.
Key dates
Final day of term – Friday 22nd July
First day back – Wednesday 7th September at 8.45am
I wish you a happy, healthy summer and look forward to welcoming your child back in September 2022.
Yours Sincerely,
Miss L Strawson
