Year 11 at Poetry Live!
On Tuesday 23rd January, 90 Year 11 students were taken to the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham to watch ‘Poetry Live!’: an event at which poets included on the GCSE syllabus read (and speak about) their poetry.
Whilst it was clear to see that the students were spellbound watching these poets bring their GCSE texts to life, feedback from pupils also demonstrated how beneficial they found the experience. They learnt lots about content, context and the poets’ motivations.
Students were a credit to the school, both during the performance and on the transport to and from the event.
The English Department would not hesitate in organising this trip again.
